During the class of Digital Media 2 the learning objectives are to learn and demonstrate knowledge of adobe programs. This is valuable to my future because it makes it possible for me to use photoshop to edit photos or premiere pro to edit videos for class or for any projects. In the project that I am submitting as an artifact for Digital Media 2, we needed to act in a scene from Zoot Suit and then we needed to edit the videos of the group who acted out the other scene. We also recorded them and helped direct it by telling them what would look better. These learning objectives linked back to the course learning objectives by us needed to use premiere pro to edit the videos and make the clips flow better together by adding transitions and cutting out the parts of the videos that went wrong. The assignment or project was about a play that has been performed in theaters which is named, “Zoot Suit”. It’s about pachucos and how different times were back then. It required me to record videos of the other group who was acting. I needed to memorize my lines and remember where to stand. I also helped by telling Richards and Adrian what movements would look better or what would sound better. We all pitched in to make the play flow better. I also edited my own version of the play. The Process I went through to do this project and meet the learning objectives first started with remembering my lines! It was really hard for me to do this because it’s hard for me to remember anything. But, the lines I had were really long at times and I would forget parts. Then I needed to remember what gestures I needed to make. For example, it was hard for us to know where exactly to go when they took away my suitcase and I needed to reach out for it because we would crash into each other or we would be blocking the camera. Then, when I was recording the other group, I needed to make sure the shot was in focus and I needed to switch shots sometimes. I also needed to make sure nobody was blocking the shot. When I was editing, I needed to make sure the shots weren’t over/under exposed. I needed to try different transitions to see which would work better. I also needed to make sure nothing was distracting from the scene and that the audio flowed well.Throughout this process listed above I have realized I have learned or grown in the following ways: I’m better at editing videos, I can make transitions go well with the video, I can make sure the audio flows well together, and I can add special effects to the videos. These link back to the course goals and project goals with the following evidence of demonstrating I can use premiere pro. This tells me that I’m a hands on learner. It’s hard for me to remember stuff and I have to keep saying it over and over until I remember my lines. My acting skills can improve. I was kind of embarrassed about acting for some reason. The Two School Wide Learning Outcomes I demonstrated with this Artifact is being a self directed learner who communicates effectively and applying technological skills for the 21st century. I have demonstrated (this first slow SLO) in the artifact by communicating with Richards, Adrian, and the actors when a shot wasn’t working or when the camera was being blocked, etc. This is important because I’m talking to my teammates when there’s a problem and I’m giving suggestions on how it can be fixed. The Second SLO I demonstrated was applying technological skills for the 21st century. I did this by using premiere pro to edit the videos and then recording all the different clips. This is important because I can now create video projects for class or use my skills to make commercials for local businesses, etc. Overall the the most important things I have learned in this class this year are to be patient with video projects and when editing photos. I also learned more on how to use premiere pro and photoshop. These skills I have learned in this class will help me in the future by allowing me to express my creativity.
